Alessandro Diamanti West Ham United's target

Italian side Livorno claim West Ham are in talks to sign striker Alessandro Diamanti.

Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola has admitted he is in the market for striking reinforcements and it appears Diamanti could be one of his top targets.

Diamanti scored 16 goals in Serie B last season and his progress is believed to have been monitored by Zola.

The 26-year-old has informed Livorno he would be interested in a move to England, but Livorno president Aldo Spinelli insists West Ham's offer is not acceptable, with Parma also in the race to sign the free-kick specialist.

"Diamanti would like to play in the Premier League and we are in negotiations with West Ham, but the offer is not satisfactory," Spinelli told Sky Italia.

"We also received a proposal from Parma for co-ownership worth £3m, but we value him at around £8m.

"It is not out of the question that Diamanti could remain with us, though."
