Espanyol name their new captain
Espanyol have named long-serving midfielder Ivan De la Pena as their new captain for next season following the tragic death of Daniel Jarque.
Jarque, who took over the captaincy this summer, died earlier this month at the age of 26 after suffering a heart attack during the club's pre-season tour of Italy.
Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed on Wednesday that 33-year-old former Spain international De la Pena, who has been at the club since 2002 having previously played for Barcelona, Lazio and Marseille, will wear the captain's armband next season.
