Gregory Coupet wants belief.

Gregory Coupet believes the mentality needs to change at Paris St Germain if they are to start challenging for the Ligue 1 title again.

Former France goalkeeper Coupet, who moved to PSG from Atletico Madrid this summer, is well qualified to comment having won seven straight French titles with Lyon between 2002 and 2008.

The capital club started off the new campaign by only drawing at promoted Montpellier but Coupet insists that should not stop his team-mates reaching for the stars.

"I am not claiming PSG will be champions. But it should be our ambition. We are at Paris to aim high," he told French daily L'Equipe.

"At Lyon, if we hadn't believed in ourselves, it would not have all happened.

"A squad isn't going to go far if it isn't convinced it can get there."

Coupet will make his home debut for PSG in Saturday's match against Le Mans at the Parc des Princes.

Striker Guillaume Hoarau missed the 1-1 draw with Montpellier because he was not match fit after a recent adductor problem, but he could play a part this weekend.

Centre-back Zoumana Camara is still out with calf trouble.

Le Mans began the season with a 2-2 home draw against Lyon, conceding a last-minute equaliser from a free-kick, and their start to the campaign does not get much easier.

Boss Paulo Duarte was absent from training in midweek as he is also coach of the Burkino Faso national team, who were in action against Mali on Wednesday.

The Portuguese returned to Les Manceaux to find Fredrik Stromstad (thigh) back in training.

But he will be without injured duo Joao Paulo Andrade and Antonio Geder.
