Trond Sollied moves on
Heerenveen have parted company with coach Trond Sollied.
The Norwegian took the reins in March 2008, leading the team to victory in the KNVB Cup last season.
But a disappointing start to the new campaign, where they have won just once in five league matches, has prompted Heerenveen to sever ties with Sollied.
A statement on www.sc-heerenveen.nl described the decision as "inevitable". "SC Heerenveen and their coach Trond Sollied have today, during a meeting, decided to end their cooperation with immediate effect," said the statement.
"The board regrets the outcome but considers it inevitable. They blame the breakdown on cultural differences between the club and the coach.
"The club would like to thank Trond Sollied for what he has done here. He is, and will remain, the first coach in Heerenveen's history to win a trophy - in the form of the KNVB Beker."
Jan de Jonge will coach the first team on a temporary basis until a successor is appointed.
