Valero could leave West Bromwich Albion

Real Mallorca are hopeful of bringing Borja Valero back to the club from West Brom.

The midfielder moved to The Hawthorns for a fee of £4.7million last summer but was unable to keep West Brom in the Premier League.

Speculation has suggested in recent weeks that Valero could be set to leave the Baggies before the close of the transfer window.

And Mallorca have now revealed they are in negotiations with the Championship club about re-signing the 24-year-old.

It is understood a loan deal may be put in place initially with a view to a permanent switch.

"We have initiated the negotiations with this player, whom I like very much," director Javier Marti Asensio is quoted as saying in the Birmingham Mail.

"He has the characteristics that we looked for and that we have seen before.

"The player does not want to play in the English second tier and this may work in our favour."
