Ajax hits a sixer

Dario Cvitanich weighed in with an accomplished hat-trick as Ajax ran in six unanswered goals against sorry NAC Breda in Sunday afternoon's Eredivisie encounter at the Amsterdam ArenA.

The striker bagged a first-half brace while further goals from Jan Vertonghen and Luis Suarez had the hosts four goals to the good at half time.

Kennedy Bakircioglu made it 5-0 three minutes after the restart while Cvitanich competed his treble just past the hour.

The victory moves Ajax one point behind pace-setting trio PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord and FC Twente at the summit, while NAC, level on points with the Amsterdammers at the start of the day, drop to eighth.

Feyenoord, meanwhile, maintained their unbeaten start to the new Eredivisie season after coming out 3-2 winners in a pulsating encounter against Willem II.

Said Boutahar fired second-bottom Willem II into the lead early on but Jon Dahl Tomasson pulled the visitors level inside 10 minutes. Tomasson's second of the match after 18 minutes put the Rotterdammers in control but Bart Biemans' 33rd-minute strike ensured the sides went in level at the break.

Both sides shored up their defences in the second period but the class of Feyenoord told as Jonathan De Guzman hit what proved to be the winner 21 minutes from time.

NEC Nijmegen scored twice in the dying seconds to earn a 2-2 draw at Vitesse Arnhem.

Santi Kolk put Vitesse in the lead just before half-time - an advantage they kept until Claudemir Domingues da Souza added a second 11 minutes from time.

That appeared to be enough to seal the points until Nijmegen hit back through Ramon Zomer (87) and Arek Radomski's 93rd-minute deflected equaliser.

Sparta Rotterdam picked up their second home win of the season, 1-0 over RKC Waalwijk, thanks to Rydell Poepon's early goal.

Poepon headed home in the 13th minute to condemn newly-promoted RKC to a sixth straight league defeat.

Fellow newcomers VVV-Venlo collected a first win of the campaign following five draws as Sandro Calabro scored the only goal against Heracles Almelo.

On Saturday, PSV Eindhoven continued their unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Roda JC.

Goals from Balazs Dzsudzsak, Stanislav Manolev and Otman Bakkal gave PSV their fourth win from six games to put them top of the table on goal difference from FC Twente, with both clubs on 14 points.

Twente beat Utrecht 3-2 with a last-minute winner from Bryan Ruiz.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored twice for visitors Utrecht, giving them the lead after seven minutes before Blaise Nkufo equalised (41).

Nicky Kuiper put the home side ahead eight minutes into the second half, Van Wolfswinkel levelled (63) and Ruiz hit the late winner before the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Chiek Tiote was shown a second yellow card.

AZ Alkmaar dropped to third place after losing 2-1 away to Den Haag.

Den Haag led 2-0 through Wesley Verhoek (four) and Lex Immers (54) before Jermain Lens grabbed a consolation with four minutes remaining.

Groningen moved away from the foot of the table as Morten Nordstrand scored on the hour in a 1-0 win at Heerenveen, who also had Michael Dingsdag sent off in the final minute.
