Ciro Ferrara - We should have won

Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara had a bitter taste in his mouth after his side's perfect start to the Serie A campaign was ended with a 2-2 draw at Genoa last night.

The outcome saw Juve go level on 13 points with Inter Milan at the Italian summit after five games, but Ferrara was not satisfied.

"We deserved the victory," he said. "I saw a great Juve and this can only give us further motivation that we are on the right path.

"We played a great match against a Genoa side that play very well at home.

"We were superior but we didn't get the result we wanted.

"We were unfortunate regarding certain episodes."

With Juve trailing 2-1, they had a goal harshly disallowed for offside before David Trezeguet struck the equaliser with three minutes to go.

"Giorgio Chiellini's goal was not offside," said Ferrara.

"Games change because of these type of episodes.

"I can understand that it's not easy to sometimes see offsides and I think we were hard done by over this.

"Fortunately, we were able to restore parity with Trezeguet's goal."

Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini praised rivals Juve but also hailed his team's fighting spirit.

"It wasn't easy to face Juve, who are a very strong side, especially in attack," he said.

"I have to compliment my players.

"We defended very well but in the end we gave away the equaliser.

"It's a pity that we could not hold on for the win but I'm nevertheless satisfied with my team's performance."

Juve host Bologna this weekend while Genoa travel to the Stadio Friuli to meet Udinese.
