Juventus beat Lazio in the thrilling encounter

David Trezeguet was relieved to end a long scoring drought to help Juventus capture their second victory at the Stadio Olimpico this season.

Juve beat Lazio 2-0 yesterday with Trezeguet notching his team's second goal of the night and his first since February.

"To have scored tonight gives me a lot of confidence for the future," said Trezeguet.

"It is a really nice feeling after a long time.

"Last season I suffered a lot because of injury that ruled me out for several months and because for different reasons, I wasn't able to contribute to the team.

"But my team-mates have helped me a lot and today I feel as though I have returned to play at a high level.

"I was able to play from the start and the team played a great match."

Juve, who won at Roma in the previous round, showed no signs of slowing down as they remained perfect in Italy's top flight after three games played.

Juve coach Ciro Ferrara admitted his team were made to work in order to end Lazio's winning run in Serie A.

"We struggled in the first half against a team that has done really well at the start of the campaign," said Ferrara. "But we played much better in the second half and in the end got the result we wanted.

"I have to praise our goalscorers Martin Caceres and Trezeguet.

"This season I need the contribution of every player in the squad.

"Trezeguet's goal will give him calmness and I thought he deserved to play the entire game."

Saturday's triumph leaves the Turin giants three points clear at the top of the standings. However, Genoa and Sampdoria could join Juve if they win their respective games in hand today.

The only setback for Ferrara's side was the injury sustained by Brazilian playmaker Diego.

Diego was substituted shortly before the break with a right thigh injury.

The South American star is doubtful for Tuesday's Champions League match against Bordeaux in Turin.

"I feel a bit of pain," said Diego. "But I hope it's nothing serious.

"Tomorrow I will undergo tests to see the extent of the injury."

(re-opens) Meanwhile, Trezeguet has revealed he could still be at the Stadio Olimpico next season.

The 32-year-old announced a fortnight ago this would be his last campaign with Juve and he had already told Ferrara of his decision.

However, the Frenchman, who is under contract until 2012, admits he is now not certain to leave Turin in June.

"I have not yet definitively decided whether I'm leaving Juventus at the end of the season," he said. "I must still speak to my family properly.

"Also (against Lazio) it was shown how much everybody loves me and how happy they were with my goal.

"For now, however, I am interested in re-finding my best conditions and continuing to be useful to this team."

The Frenchman, who joined the Bianconeri from Monaco in 2000, was at the centre of a great deal of transfer speculation over the summer, with AC Milan reportedly leading the chase before he eventually opted to remain at Juve.
