Louis van Gaal praises his Bayern team

Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal praised his team for carrying out his instructions clinically after they crushed Rot-Weiss Oberhausen in the DFB Pokal.

Bayern secured their place in the third round with a 5-0 win at the Allianz Arena, in which defender Daniel van Buyten scored twice and Philipp Lahm, Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller also pitched in with goals.

Van Buyten continued his fine run of form in front of goal, having scored the winner in the hard-fought victory over Nurnberg on Saturday.

Van Gaal told Bayern's official website: "I am very happy. The second half was a bit better than the first.

"We kept the ball moving better. I said after the Nurnberg game that it is always difficult against an organised team.

"I am very happy about the result and also the execution."

Belgian centre-back Van Buyten recognised the tactics planned by Van Gaal proved highly effective against Bayern's second-tier opponents.

Van Buyten said: "Against such a team it is important that you move the ball around well and quickly, to make sure the opponents run around a lot.

"After 30 minutes we saw that some of them were tired.

"We did exactly what the coach wanted from us and it has paid off."
