FC Twente makes to the top of league
FC Twente took advantage of PSV and Ajax dropping points to move two clear at the top of the Eredivisie after coming from behind to win 3-1 at Heracles Almelo.
Everton gave Heracles a surprise lead after just nine minutes but Bryan Ruiz levelled just after the half-four mark.
Two goals in two second-half minutes from Blaise Nkufo and Theo Janssen then sealed the win for Steve McClaren's side.
PSV had topped the table, but a goalless draw at FC Utrecht saw the Eindhoven side slip back to second.
PSV finished with 10 men following the 87th-minute sending-off of Balazs Dzsudzsak.
There was also late drama at Heerenveen with two goals in the final two minutes of their game against VVV-Venlo.
VVV seemed on course for their second win of the season when Sandro Calabro put them ahead after 88 minutes but substitute Michal Papadopulos earned Heerenveen a 1-1 draw minutes later.
Ajax are third after their momentum took a knock with a 2-2 draw at struggling Roda JC on Sunday.
The Amsterdammers had won their last four games by scoring 16 goals without reply, but they ended up coming from behind to earn a point in Kerkrade after surrendering an early lead.
Roda responded to Luis Suarez's penalty with goals from Arnaud Sutchuin Djum and Boldiszar Bodor, leaving Suarez to steal a point with a 67th minute equaliser.
A late push to win the game was hurt by the dismissal of Urby Emanuelson for a bad tackle.
On Saturday, Feyenoord kept up the pressure at the top of the table with a 3-0 triumph over rock-bottom RKC Waalwijk.
Andwele Slory opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark and RKC shot themselves in the foot in the 72nd minute when the unfortunate Toni Varela turned the ball into his own net.
Substitute Georgino Wijnaldu netted in stoppage-time to seal the result which leaves Feyenoord joint top ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures.
RKC are four points adrift from second bottom Willem II who picked up a valuable point at NEC Nijmegen as midfielder Said Boutahar came back to haunt his former club.
Erton Fejzullahu had put the visitors in front five minutes before the break but Boutahar, who spent three years at NEC, levelled matters on the hour mark.
AZ Alkmaar halted a run of three successive league defeats by beating NAC Breda at the DSB Stadion.
Jeremain Lens scored the only goal on the half-hour mark to move the defending champions five points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven, who have a game in hand.
Elsewhere, an own goal from Groningen's Gibril Sankoh gifted ADO Den Haag a share of the spoils.
Sankoh fluffed a clearance and kicked the ball into his own net midway through the second half to level the scores after Nicklas Pedersen had put the visitors ahead.
Vitesse Arnhem claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam on Friday night.
The win moves Vitesse into the top half of the table, while piling the pressure on luckless Sparta.
