First home win for Hannover

Hannover collected their first home victory of the season by beating Freiburg 5-2.

Sofian Chahed and Arnold Jan Bruggink made it 2-0 for the hosts after just 10 minutes.

Ivica Banovic pulled a goal back in the 35th minute but Karim Haggui made it 3-1 in first-half injury-time.

Julian Schuster cut the gap to 3-2 in the 82nd minute but Didier Ya Konan and Sergio Pinto completed the scoring in the closing minutes.

The visitors had a great chance after just six minutes but Mohamadou Idrissou's shot struck the crossbar.

And it was Hannover who grabbed the lead a minute later. Bruggink passed into the area from the left and Chahed fired home from eight yards, although his shot did take a deflection off a Freiburg defender.

Hannover doubled their lead three minutes later. Ya Konan's long blast was blocked by Felix Bastians but fell straight to Bruggink, who sent a looping volley over Freiburg goalkeeper Simon Pouplin.

Hannover goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz almost gifted Freiburg a goal when his attempted clearance bounced off Idrissou and flew just wide of the goal.

Freiburg did eventually pull a goal back nine minutes before the break as Johannes Flum's high pass found Banovic, who headed past Fromlowitz.

Hannover restored their two-goal lead in first-half injury-time as Hanno Balitsch's cross was headed in by Haggui.

Freiburg's Tommy Bechmann struck the post in the 73rd minute before his side cut the deficit to one goal with seven minutes left as Heiko Butscher's cross from the left was headed in by Schuster.

However, Hannover countered just three minutes later as Jan Rosenthal fed Ya Konan who beat Pouplin.

And Pinto finished the scoring a minute into injury time after some fine interplay with Ya Konan.
