Goalless draw for Borussia
Borussia Monchengladbach ended a five-game losing streak with a goalless draw at home to Cologne.
The home side posed the greater attacking threat and Roel Brouwers saw a shot cleared off the line in the second half as both sides had to settle for a point.
The draw moved Monchengladbach up to 15th place, while Cologne are just two places better off.
Monchengladbach nearly gifted their opponents the lead in the 22nd minute as Dante's back pass beat his goalkeeper Logan Bailly but, luckily for the home side, also went wide of the post.
Cologne offered little going forward, though, and Gladbach's best chance came six minutes before the break when Juan Arango's free-kick from 25 yards went just wide to the right.
The visitors did though miss a golden chance just seconds before the break as Lukas Podolski played a ball through to Manasseh Ishiaku who could only shoot wide of the left post from 13 yards.
Cologne keeper Faryd Mondragon kept the scores level with a fine save 11 minutes after the break, batting away Arango's dangerous free-kick from 24 yards.
Roel Brouwers then saw his effort cleared off the line by Cologne's Miso Brecko with 16 minutes to play.
And Mondragon again denied the hosts with nine minutes remaining, preventing a certain own goal by diving to his left to keep out Youssef Mohamad's misdirected clearance from a dangerous free-kick.
Michael Bradley had Monchengladbach's last effort three minutes into injury time, but his shot from 20 yards went wide.
