Rodriguez strikes double for Barcelona

Barcelona avoided a Real Madrid-style slip-up in the Copa del Rey as they won 2-0 at Cultural Leonesa .

The day after Madrid lost 4-0 at third-tier side Alcorcon, Pedro Rodriguez scored both goals for Barca in the 41st and 62nd minutes, putting them comfortably in control of the fourth-round tie ahead of the second leg.

Three Primera Division sides were embarrassed, though.

Almeria lost 2-1 at Hercules, Ionel Danciulescu and Alejandro Sergio Diaz grabbing the goals for the Segunda Division side.

Nestor Susaeta and German Pacheco scored in the first 20 minutes as Rayo Vallecano beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0.

Celta Vigo claimed a 2-1 first-leg win over Tenerife, with goals from Saulo and Michu.

Elsewhere, Getafe beat Espanyol 2-0, Valencia were 1-0 winners at Alcoyano, Deportivo La Coruna won 1-0 at Murcia, Real Zaragoza were held 1-1 by Malaga and Osasuna sealed a 2-1 victory at Xerez.
