Bremen back to second spot
Werder Bremen moved up to second place in the Bundesliga and extended their unbeaten run to 19 games with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.
Mesut Ozil gave Bremen the lead after 36 minutes only for Lucas Barrios to equalise nine minutes into the second half.
Thomas Schaaf's team were not at their fluent best but were able to extend their impressive streak domestically and in Europe.
The hosts needed time to build up some offensive pressure.
And the first real chance also turned into the opening goal after 36 minutes.
Aaron Hunt ran onto Neven Subotic's header and burst down the right before crossing to the left edge of the area where Ozil converted with a left foot shot from 13 yards.
The hosts went close to doubling the lead two minutes before the break as Per Mertesacker diverted Hugo Almeida's shot goalwards but Mohamed Zidan cleared off the line.
Dortmund had a chance two minutes into first-half stoppage-time but Bremen keeper Tim Wiese tipped Nuri Sahin's free-kick over the bar.
Barrios scored eight minutes after the break but had the 'goal' disallowed for being off-side.
The Argentinian was not to be denied and a minute later equalised.
Wiese could not gather Nelson Valdez's shot and Barrios pounced on the rebound for his fifth goal in the last five Bundesliga games.
Subotic found space six yards out with 22 minutes to play but his shot was deflected over the crossbar.
Valdez missed another chance with nine minutes left . He was fed in the area but was unable to beat Wiese.
