Roma target Roman Pavlyuchenko

Roman Pavlyuchenko is waiting to hear back from Roma after reiterating his desire to leave Tottenham.

The Russian striker's future has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Pavlyuchenko is keen to play regularly and announced earlier this month that he would look to secure a move away from White Hart Lane when the transfer window reopens.

He has been linked with a return to his homeland, while agent Oliver Wendt announced last week that Roma were interested in securing his services.

Wendt has not heard of any fresh developments over the past few days but will continue to monitor the situation.

"Pavlyuchenko wants to leave Tottenham," Wendt told romagiallorossa.com.

"If Roma are interested in Pavlyuchenko they should contact us and Tottenham. We await a response from Roma.

"I have not heard Roma since the famous contact of last week in London and there hasn't even been any contact with Tottenham lately."

Harry Redknapp has insisted he does not want to sell Pavlyuchenko and there have been suggestions that a loan switch might be more likely.

However, Wendt has ruled out such an idea, saying: "No, the loan of the player is not possible."
