Alejandro Dominguez joins Valencia

Valencia new boy Alejandro Dominguez admits he turned down the chance to earn more money elsewhere in order to sign for the Primera Division club, who he hopes can help him fulfil his international ambitions.

The 28-year-old Argentinian forward was presented by Valencia on Tuesday after completing his switch from Rubin Kazan and penning a contract that ties him to Los Che for the rest of this season and three more.

When asked if he had rejected a better financial deal elsewhere to join Valencia, Dominguez said: "Yes, that's true but right now I'm thinking about other things, about sporting goals and that Valencia are on a good path and, hopefully, we can achieve things."

Valencia are fourth in the Primera Division table and need just a point against Genoa on Thursday to progress through to the last 32 of the Europa League.

In 23 competitive games this season they have lost just twice, including against Real Madrid at the weekend.

"I had other offers but I decided on Valencia because they are a big club, who deserve to achieve big things and I think that with the quality there is in the team they are on the right path," added Dominguez.

"As well as that, I think that they can help me get into the national team and go to World Cup, and this is one of the things that was in my thinking when I decided to come here.

"I'm very happy to be at Valencia and eager to join the team and start doing well for them."
