Gattuso offered new Milan deal

AC Milan have offered Gennaro Gattuso a new deal to keep him at the club for the rest of his career.

Gattuso's future with the Rossoneri has been the subject of speculation in recent months with the player understood to be frustrated with his lack of first-team action this season.

Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the former Rangers man, but Milan are adamant the tigerish midfielder is going nowhere.

Milan are so keen to keep Gattuso they are ready to extend his contract until he hangs up his boots.

Gattuso has struggled with injuries over the last 12 months and Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has promised to hold talks with the player once he is back to full fitness.

"Not only did I propose Gattuso to stay, but also to extend and spread out his contract and end his career at Milan," Galliani told Sky Italia.

"We have an agreement - Gattuso will heal first and then we'll meet to discuss it."

Gattuso's team-mate Massino Ambrosini can understand the midfielder's frustration, but is confident his compatriot will stay at the San Siro.

"It is a normal thing that a great player like Gattuso can make these thoughts in particular situations," Ambrosini told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"If he decides to leave, all of us will be sad and unhappy. But I'm sure he remain here."
