Aymen Abdennour joins Werder Bremen on loan
Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Tunisia international Aymen Abdennour on loan from Etoile Sportive du Sahel until the end of the season.
The Bundesliga side have also secured themselves an option on the defender, allowing them to sign him permanently at the end of the loan spell.
Abdennour, who has spent the last week on trial in Bremen, has flown to Frankfurt with his new team-mates and could make his debut in Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, just as long as Bremen receive international clearance in time.
"We have signed a very talented player in Aymen Abdennour," said Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs.
"Despite his age, he already has a substantial amount of experience.
"We have watched him play for the Tunisian youth selections as well as in training recently and we believe that he has the potential to strengthen us."
Abdennour is looking forward to the challenge of earning a full-time contract with the Bundesliga club and wants to convince them that they have done the right thing in giving him a chance.
"I really wanted to come to Werder because it is a big and famous club in a strong league," he said.
"I feel ready for this step and I will do all I can to be successful. I know that a lot of faith is being placed in me and would like to justify that as quickly as possible."
Abdennour has been capped three times by the Tunisia national team and is currently captain of the under-21s.
