Rino worried about Milan progress next season

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso admits he is worried about the Rossoneri's chances next season.

It has been a summer of change at the San Siro in which the Serie A giants have lost coach Carlo Ancelotti, veteran captain Paolo Maldini and star player Kaka.

And Gattuso, who has been at the club for 10 years, feels they will be in for a tough campaign.

"If I have to be honest I am not calm when I think about the start of the season," he told Milan Channel.

"Not because we're no good, but because it will be very, very tough.

"That is what we have to put in our heads: not only on the pitch or during training, but also at home we have to think about what awaits us.

"They're all lying in wait for us, and that is why we have to convince ourselves that each one of us has to give something extra."

Gattuso nevertheless believes Milan could surprise everyone with a similar season to that of three years ago which saw them lift the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

However, he insists good football interests him more.

Gattuso added: "As for the rest, we have nothing to be envious about toward other teams.

"We are doing better now than in 2007, and look what happened that year.

"What's important is to believe, to have the compactness of a real team, then anything can happen.

"We have to keep 2007 nailed in our heads: everyone thought we were finished but we brought home three trophies.

"I don't want three trophies, I just want a season that excites our fans. Right now there's little enthusiasm surrounding us, we need much more!"
